Hair Mineral Analysis

We measure iron in the blood and frequently talk about iron deficiency or iron excess. There are many other minerals eg. selenium, iodine, manganese, zinc, chromium which are also important. Whereas iron lives and works mainly in the blood, these others are more active in the tissues. The hair is a tissue sample and low levels in the hair can reflect low levels in the body.

Toxic metals are also measured. Lead, arsenic, and mercury are in our environment from many sources and are considered to be the most toxic environmental factors. They can be removed from the body, but this must be done carefully with as little stress as possible to the elimination organs, especially the kidneys.
