Ozone: Sauna and IV

Ozone is a “supercharged” form of oxygen, comprised of three oxygen atoms as opposed to two, which can be used to heal and detoxify the body. Ozone was first developed in Germany in the early 1950’s and, whilst its usage is widespread throughout Europe, is considered an “alternative” therapy throughout the US and Australasia.

Ozone has many properties that facilitate healing. Firstly, it helps regulate the immune system. It can help to calm down an over-active immune system (ie., auto-immune disorders) and also helps to stimulate defences when the immune system is down (ie, cancer, chronic infections, etc.).

Ozone also helps to stimulate increased uptake of oxygen by enabling the release of oxygen from the haemoglobin molecule so that it can be taken up into the cell. This is helpful for people with poor circulation (diabetics, peripheral vascular disease, heart disease etc.).

Ozone also helps boost mitochondrial function. Mitochondria are the organelles inside all of our cells which serve as our batteries. Without proper mitochondrial function, the body will suffer low energy. Ozone therapy, by boosting the mitochondria, is helpful for any problem involving chronic fatigue, as fatigue is invariably a mitochondrial problem.

Ozone therapy is currently available as sauna (good for skin conditions and overall detox); intra-venous therapy; and rectal insufflation.
